The New Biz Malden program trains, develops, and equips
aspiring immigrant entrepreneurs with the skills, resources, and confidence to
start their own business. The 11-week program, held at The Immigrant Learning
Center, will meet weekly to discuss business fundamentals and build out
participants’ business plans. However, we know that experience is often the
best teacher, which is why we’re looking for small business owners to share
their experience through a mentorship relationship with our participants.
Preference will be give to mentors who either reside or operate their business
in Malden.
As a mentor, you would be paired with an aspiring entrepreneur and expected to commit to the following:
- Complete a virtual mentor orientation prior to the start of the program and mid-program check-in
- Conduct 1-1 bi-weekly meetings with mentee to help support their business development plans (virtual or in-person)
- Assist your mentee’s
preparation of an “elevator pitch” to prospective funders
- Attend the
final graduation ceremony to support your mentee’s final pitch
- Complete an end-of-program
survey
