What are Facebook Groups?
Facebook
Groups make it easy to connect with specific sets of people, like family,
teammates or coworkers. Groups are private spaces where you can share updates,
photos or documents and message other group members. You can also select one of
three privacy options for each group you create. BCRC’s Online Support Group
has the highest security level and is a Secret
Group.
Can anyone see I joined this group?
Members have
to be added and approved by the BCRC administrator. Only members of the group
can see who is a member. No one outside of the group will see that you joined
the group.
Who can see my posts?
Only
approved members of the group can see your posts.
How do I join?
You must
sign the consent form provided by the BCRC and provide the email address that
you used to register for Facebook. You will receive a notification to join the
group. Approve the request and you are a member.
How do I know when people post questions?
You will
receive a notification when people post to the group. If you do not want to
receive notifications, you can turn these off. Go to your settings and then
notifications to edit these settings.
Do I have to participate?
Just as you
are not required to participate in person, you do not have to participate
online. You are welcome to chime in when you would like or just observe. As in
all groups though, you may have valuable experiences to share that could help
someone else. The purpose of the group is to share information, learn and
support one another.
Do I have to “friend” people in the group?
You are
never required to “friend” anyone on Facebook from this group. We ask that you
respect others privacy. If you want to friend someone in the group, that is
okay too. Just know that not everyone is interested in relationships outside of
online community.
How do I make sure my profile is secure?
Your
personal profile can be secured to show only your name. You can also make your
profile unsearchable. Visit Facebook.com/help to find out how to secure your
settings.
