Volunteer Release

In consideration of my being permitted to participate in volunteer work for CAROLINA TIGER RESCUE (hereafter CTR), on behalf of myself, my spouse, children, legal representatives, heirs, distributees, guardians, agents, children for whom I am legal guardian, and assigns, I agree as follows:


Dangers and rules:

a) I have been advised that the animals contained on the premises of CTR are wild and dangerous, and that I risk serious bodily injury or death if I come into contact with one of the animals. I have also been advised that the property is not paved and is rustic. b) I will not touch any animal, enter any animal cage or compound, or place any part of my body, clothing or personal property in or near any cage or compound without express authorization to do so;
c) I am not required to be in contact with the animals of CAROLINA TIGER RESCUE and any animal contact that I may have is purely voluntary and undertaken of my own volition and at my own risk;
d) I must undertake and successfully complete animal care training prior to animal contact;
e) It is my responsibility to know and to abide by any and all rules and regulations of CAROLINA TIGER RESCUE including verbal instruction and directives that may be issued from time to time by CAROLINA TIGER RESCUE representatives;
f) I will remain observant for and exercise caution around holes, trenches, building materials, fire ant hills, and other physical hazards on the property;
g) I may be working with or in the vicinity of heavy equipment such as tractors, bulldozers, and backhoes, and/or with potentially dangerous hand tools, and that it is my responsibility to seek and acquire appropriate instruction for the operation of such tools, to exercise good judgment and appropriate safety procedures for my own safety and that of my co-workers, and to avoid the use of tools and equipment for which I lack an appropriate degree of skill and training;
h) I understand that protective gloves provided to me by CAROLINA TIGER RESCUE may contain latex, that there may be risks involved in using this product, and I assume full responsibility for any adverse reaction to this product.
i) If for any reason I am asked to leave the property I will do so promptly without protest.

Liability release and hold harmless agreement

a) For myself and on behalf of my children and other minors for whom I am the legal guardian, I hereby release, waive, indemnify, and forever discharge CTR and all of its owners, officers, directors, members, employees, visitors, volunteers, and sponsors and each of them and all of their heirs, assigns, officers, and employees, from all liability to me, my spouse, children, legal representatives, heirs, distributees, guardians, agents, and assigns of and from any and every claim, demand, action or right of action, of whatever kind or nature, either in law or in equity, arising from or by reason of any and all bodily injury or personal injuries, known or unknown, death or property damage now or hereafter resulting from any event which may occur as a result of my presence on the grounds of CTR, or any activities in connection with my presence on the grounds of CTR, whether due to negligence or otherwise;
b) I further release CTR and all of its officials and personnel from any claim whatsoever on account of any first aid treatment or service rendered to me during my activities as a volunteer or on any visit to the premises of CTR;
c) As further consideration, I do hereby acknowledge, accept, and agree that this release and any action arising there from will be construed under the laws of the State of North Carolina.  In the event any portion of this agreement is held invalid by a court of competent jurisdiction, the balance shall remain in full legal force and effect;
d) I further agree that by signing this agreement I confirm that:

i) I am of lawful age;

ii) I have carefully read the foregoing release, know the contents, and understand that this is a release of liability and a contract between myself and  CTR;

iii) I have had ample opportunity to ask questions about the dangers of visiting and volunteering at this facility and about the meaning of this document;

iv) I understand that if I violate this contract, I am subject to penalties, including but not limited to, legal fees and other costs incurred by CTR and any of the other released parties; and

v) I am signing this document of my own free will, under no disability or duress.

Photo releases:

a) I understand that I may take photographs while on the property and may use these photographs freely without payment of additional compensation to CTR. I hereby grant to CTR, without payment of any compensation by CTR, the right to unlimited use of any photographs of the premises or resident animals for any purpose for an unlimited duration of time.
b) I understand that photography and filming may be occurring while I am visiting CTR and I hereby consent to the unlimited use of my image by CTR without compensation.

Proper Attire

All workgroup projects take place outdoors. Please be prepared for moderately strenuous physical work in a fairly rustic, natural, outdoor environment.

  1. Closed-toed shoes or boots are requiredClosed-toed sandals, slip-on shoes, flats, or other similar footwear, are prohibited.
  2. Long pants are required. Shorts, capris, sweatpants, or scrub pants, are prohibited.
  3. Long sleeve shirts are strongly suggested because poison ivy is prevalent on property.
  4. Do not wear clothing with offensive or inappropriate logos/graphics on them
  5. Sports bras must be worn with tank tops.
  6. No bare midriffs.
  7. Please tie up long hair and take off dangling jewelry.

Individuals who are not in compliance with the above guidelines will be sent home.
