Volunteer with 826 Valencia!

Thanks for committing to support our student authors in San Francisco! Our proven model has shown that individualized, consistent tutoring from caring volunteers leads to great leaps in learning for students. We are looking for volunteers to make a regular commitment in order to lower the student to adult ratio in our programs, and create greater impact for students.

Please review our “Learn about Volunteering” and “Be a Tutor” pages for details about our requirements. If you’re 18 years or older, please fill out our volunteer application form below. If you’re under 18, a returning volunteer, or a volunteer transferring from another chapter, please reach out to volunteer@826valencia.org before completing the form.

Note that all of the below fields are required. After successfully submitting your volunteer registration form, you should automatically receive an email from us with next steps. Basic - Able to speak in simple phrases or sentences

Proficient - Able to carry out an effective tutoring session and offer writing support

Fluent - Able to speak easily and accurately across contexts

As a condition of volunteering, I give permission for 826 Valencia to conduct a background check on me, which may include a review of sex offender registries, child abuse, and criminal activity records. I understand that, if appointed, my position is conditional upon the staff at 826 receiving no inappropriate information on my background. I hereby release and agree to hold harmless from liability to 826 Valencia, the employees and volunteers thereof, or any person or organization that may provide such information.

I hereby grant to 826 Valencia, and its authorized agents, vendors, officers, directors, employees, licensees, affiliates, successors, and assigns the non-exclusive, irrevocable, perpetual, world-wide right and license to use, reproduce, display, perform, edit, create derivative works of, and distribute, in whole or in part, any photographs and/or recordings taken by me during activities sponsored by 826 Valencia, for any purpose, in any and all manner or media now known or hereinafter developed.

I acknowledge that I also understand that 826 Valencia appreciates me and my enthusiasm, but I also acknowledge that 826 Valencia is not obligated to appoint me to a volunteer position.
