Before applying to Cal Wellness for funding, please take
a moment to review our eligibility criteria. You must be able to answer “Yes”
to each of the following criteria in order to proceed.

Cal Wellness makes grants to advance the well-being of Californians. Please review the information on our website about what
we fund.
o Does your organization or program fall within one of the Advancing Wellness portfolios?
§
We support nonprofit organizations, public
agencies, religious organizations and tribal governments. We do not accept
applications for grants to individuals.
o Is your organization an acceptable type?
§
Applicant organizations must generally be both exempt from tax under Internal Revenue Code Section 501(c)(3) and recognized by the Internal Revenue Service as a public charity described in Sections 509(a)(1)-(3) (other than a Type III, non-functionally integrated supporting organization).
o Does your organization’s tax-exempt status meet these criteria?

Cal Wellness will not consider organizations
that discriminate by race, color, creed, gender, sexual orientation, disability or national
origin, nor consider activities that exclusively benefit the members of
sectarian or religious organizations.
o Does your organization meet our criteria for non-discrimination?
§
Grants are not generally awarded for annual fund
drives, building campaigns, major equipment or biomedical research.
o Is your request for something other than the purposes listed?
§
Cal Wellness does not provide international
funding or fund organizations located outside the United States.
o Is your organization located within the United States?
