Cycling Scotland’s Cycling Friendly programmes support organisations in employer, community, campus, school and social housing settings across Scotland who are committed to encouraging cycling through nationally accredited award programmes and development funds.

 

The Cycling Friendly development funds are financed by Transport Scotland and provide grants for projects that improve cycling facilities and encourage travel by bike in their respective settings.

Cycling Friendly award registration
Cycling Scotland’s development grants support employers, schools, community groups and further education campuses to achieve the Cycling Friendly award. The award recognises organisations that promote cycling and provides a useful framework to support and encourage more people to cycle. 

Please register for the Cycling Friendly award on www.cyclingfriendly.scot 

Once you have registered for the award you will be assigned a Cycling Friendly assessor who will provide guidance and support to help you meet the criteria.

Cycling rates / Access to bikes

In this section, please provide baseline data for the site(s) you are applying for funding for. 

Applications are assessed on their potential to reduce identified barriers to active travel and deliver an increase in cycling. Consulting with your target audience will give you a better understanding of the current barriers and help your application by showing that you have engaged with stakeholders of the project.

VAT details


For VAT registered organisations, reclaimable VAT will not be included in any grant offer made by Cycling Scotland in accordance with HMRC guidelines. 

If your organisation is partially VAT exempt, any grant offer will only include non-reclaimable VAT. Please submit confirmation from the relevant department with this application. 
If the organisation is VAT registered but not able to reclaim full or partial VAT on this project, please submit confirmation from the relevant department with this application.

We are unable to increase grant awards to include non-reclaimable VAT once a grant offer has been made.

Cycle Parking
Please make sure that costs for delivery, installation and ground works are accounted for. Individual bike lockers are unlikely to be funded due to priority for communal parking facilities.
