BCRC's All Ages & All Stages Facebook Online Support Group is a forum that has been created to provide a real-time outlet for our breast cancer clients to share, learn and connect with one another. We encourage expression and discussion. A safe online behavior requires understanding of some basic rules and etiquette in order to maintain balance and order.
Respect everyone and be responsible. Messages and opinions that are posted on this online forum are the opinions of the members. They are not and should not be taken as the position of the BCRC. Any pictures or stories shared on the site are not to be forwarded, copied, shared, pasted, or used for any personal or professional use. Refrain from posting pictures that can be triggering for others, like radiation burns, etc.
Respect the purpose of the forum. Our online community is designed to be a supportive and friendly environment where breast cancer clients can connect with and encourage one another. Any language that targets others on the basis of age, race, gender, income, ability or sexual orientation will result in the immediate removal from our forums and social media accounts. Religious and political posts are not allowed. Negative postings about BCRC and staff will be deleted. Please contact our Chief Program Officer at
smalatok@bcrc.org with issues and concerns. Please note that is not an exhaustive list, and the BCRC may revisit these terms at any time. Contact the BCRC administrator if you are unsure about a posting. We would also like to ask that participants honor the boundaries of this space. Please ensure that when interacting with BCRC staff, those interactions are kept to public and/or business channels only, including social media, email and phone. Above all - what happens in the group, stays in the group!
Do not give medical advice. While everyone is welcome to share their personal experiences relating to their cancer, treatments, side effects, etc., do not offer medical advice on these forums. For example, feel free to share how well a treatment worked for you, but do NOT attempt to persuade someone else to follow the same treatment. Everyone responds differently and what worked (or didn't) in one patient is not an indicator of how it will (or won't) work for others. Suggesting that someone should contact their doctor is not medical advice. However negative postings about doctors, medical staff, and their offices will be deleted.
This group is not intended to be used for direct communication of concerns or medical complaints to your medical provider. If you have an urgent medical need, please contact your physician or dial 911 for your nearest emergency care center.
Do not promote your product or business. If you have a commercial product or business you think could be valuable to the community, contact the site administrators by e-mail. Any posts suspected of promoting "miracle cures" will not be allowed and will be removed. There is a fine line in regards to complementary and alternative medicines, some of which may be valuable for cancer patients; but we reserve the right to make those distinctions.
Please refrain from making personal financial appeals (e.g. Go Fund Me). We understand that with cancer often comes financial difficulty. Contact your Patient Navigator for financial assistance resources.
These guidelines pertain to forum members and staff and extends to direct messages between members as well as forum posts. Be aware that:
• BCRC reserves the right to delete any posts it deems unsuitable or poses danger to forum members.
• BCRC has the discretion to remove any member if they do not comply with the guidelines.
• BCRC is not liable if members choose to share with other members information/resources that are found to be inadequate/inappropriate. Members assume personal responsibility for interactions.
I have read and understand the above user agreement form and the Breast Cancer Resource Center's Social Media Guidelines. I agree to join the All Ages & All Stages private Facebook support group and understand I will be designated as a "guest blogger" according to the guidelines.
