Page 12 - HCC Health Equity Scholars Program

In 2020, HCC was please to launch its inaugural Health Equity Scholars Program (HESP). The HESP included a robust series of interactive online learning sessions, virtual workshops, and trainings to help participants develop new skills and increase their knowledge of key issues and strategies to advance health equity. The HESP covered topics such as defining health equity, engaging community and policy stakeholders, patient-centered care, cultural humility, philanthropy, and research. Health Equity Scholars learned to recognize geographic, cultural, and social contexts where health inequities occur. Scholars applied their learnings through team-based consulting projects in partnership with organizations seeking to advance health equity.

Participation entailed 15-20 hours per week of virtual programming as well as a $1,500 educational stipend. Note: both of these levels could be modified for summer 2021.

HCC is exploring organizational and financial capacity to offer the Health Equity Scholars Program summer 2021.
