Program Scope:


English Access Microscholaship Program (Access) is a two-year global scholarship program supported by the U.S. Department of State that provides a foundation of English language skills to bright, economically disadvantaged students, primarily aged 13 to 20 through After-School classes with Enhancement Activities, and Intensive Sessions. The goal of the Access Program is to prepare students who have a minimal knowledge of English, with effective communication and critical thinking skills through meaningful interaction, cooperative learning strategies, and real-life contexts. The English Access Microscholarship Program in Lebanon will be implemented by Teach For Lebanon and will offer 500 teenagers', (25 classes of 20 public high school students each across 5 regions in Lebanon), the opportunity to increase their English language proficiency by receiving 360 hours of English as a second Language, enhancement and leadership activities. The English Access Microscholarship Program will also include capacity building and mentoring for 100 teachers across 5 regions in Lebanon

 

Job Summary


The Teacher will be developing and implementing lesson plans for students that meet the purposes of the Access program. They will hold classes on a regular basis and be responsible for assessing and guiding students to ensure their progression into the program.



ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

·    - Design and implement an English curriculum framework that meets the Access program objectives.

·    - Facilitate learning by creating a positive environment in the classroom and organizing the learning resources.

·    - Guide and assist students in their Access journey to guarantee optimum level of learning and development.

·    - Hold classes and organize activities for students based on the approved curriculum and schedule.

·    - Introduce assessment measures and materials to properly evaluate student’s progress based on the program’s set guidelines and benchmarks.

·    - Conduct student assessments regularly to measure progress.

·    - Develop and submit student progress and attendance reports based on the set timeline.

·    - Encourage tolerance in the classroom, on the basis of racial, social, economic, religious and gender equality.

·    - Ensure the health, safety and welfare of the students during planned classes and activities.


Requirements:


·    -A Bachelor in English language, Education or related major - a Master’s degree is a plus.

·         At least 3 years of experience working with students.

·    - Good communication and interpersonal skills.

     - Commitment to TFL core values, job ethics, and staff procedures.

·    - Basic understanding of US society and culture.

·    - Basic computer skills with Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint), an internet browser (Explorer, Firefox, Netscape, etc.), and e-mail.

 

 

Location: Monira Abou Merhe Bolbol Official High School (Ketermeya)

The package includes a Favorable fee of $10/hour (20 hours/month) and $5 for meeting hours, paid in fresh USD.

Working Hours: 5 hours/ week in the afternoon. Teaching will be virtual, with the possibility to change into in-person later. 

Other: Willingness to work some weekends and evenings to facilitate Professional Development training as per program needs.
