Orchestras

SYO orchestras rehearse weekly and are selected through an annual audition process. More information can be found online here.

The SYO Prep Program is designed for school-aged musicians who play orchestral string instruments right from their first year of playing up until approximately AMEB Grade 2 standard at which point they can then audition for SYO Strings – Stage 1. Musicians must be learning from a private instrumental teacher and have their own instrument.

Summer School and Winter School

SYO Holiday Programs are open to all school aged musicians having private instrumental lessons. More information can be found online here.
HSC Summer and Winter School

HSC Summer and Winter School are preparatory programs for musicians in Years 10-12 taking HSC Music 2 / Extension. More information can be found online here.
Orchestral Musicianship

Join us from anywhere in the world to explore the inner workings of 400 years of Orchestral Music with some of Sydney’s most experienced music educators! Orchestral Musicianship classes are run online with 24 sessions per year within the NSW school term. More information can be found online here.


LATE APPLICATIONS: Further information

Although our formal audition applications have now closed, SYO is still accepting late applications from some instruments. You will receive further information on whether your request to submit a late application has been approved from a member of our Musicians and Training team.
