LINK Unlimited Scholars

Thank you so much for your interest in Mentoring with LINK Unlimited Scholars! We link Black students in Chicago to a bright future!

The growth of Scholars’ and their future successes are supported by the unique relationship between LINK Mentors and Scholars. We match professionals across a wide range of industries—from education and business to finance and medicine—who all share one goal: to influence the next generation of Black leaders. By becoming an integral part of the 4-year fellowship, you are committing to supporting a Scholar throughout their high school journey. At LINK we strive to support Scholars to, through, and beyond college and the high school mentorship piece is an essential part of that.

MENTOR EXPECTATIONS

LINK Mentors are mission aligned and committed to closing the opportunity gap by supporting Black scholars to, through, and beyond college. Through your mentorship, LINK Scholars will build their social equity, learn more about career pathways, and will understand the power of civic engagement and leadership. Mentors are expected to meet the following minimum requirements.

 1. Commit to actively mentoring your Scholar during their time in high school.

2. Check-in with your Scholar at least two times per month (email, text, phone call, etc.)

3. Meet face-to-face with your Scholar at least four times per year. These meetings can be at LINK Unlimited Scholars sponsored events.

4. Each year we ask each Mentor to support our program through a financial gift. We ask that as a Mentor you consider giving the BEST GIFT you would be willing and able to provide in support of Scholar programming each year. Please enter the total amount you are able to pledge for the 2024-2025 academic year (to be paid by June 1, 2025).

If an employer/sponsor is making a gift on your behalf and you also plan to make a personal contribution, please enter your personal donation amount above. Enter $0 if you are not able to make a personal gift and are not sure the amount your employer/sponsor will be contributing at this time.

Please check to see if your employer will match your gift or contribute based upon your volunteer time. If you have any questions about this, please contact us and we can help walk you through this process with your employer.

We cannot guarantee it but we give significant consideration to your preference

MENTOR/SCHOLAR MATCHING INFORMATION

Tell us more about you! These answers will be shared with your future Mentee!

What was the impact of the relationship? Are you still in touch with your former mentee? Etc.

As an organization that mentors young people, we must, above all, ensure their safety. To protect the scholars enrolled in the LINK program, all mentors must complete a background check. You will receive information directly from Sterling Volunteers within two weeks from application acceptance.

Say cheese! Your mentee will see your photo once you are matched! On occasion, your photo might be shared with the LINK Community. Let's see some personality! Feel free to upload your headshot, your favorite selfie or a picture with your pet!

This can be the same picture uploaded above if you are both in it!
