LINK Unlimited Scholars

Our Scholars’ growth and future success is supported by the unique relationship between LINK Mentors and Scholars. We match civic-minded professionals across a wide range of industries—from education and business to finance and medicine—who all share one goal: to influence the next generation of Black leaders. As a LINK Mentor, you are committing to supporting a scholar to, through, and beyond college, by becoming an integral part of the 4 year fellowship. This includes, but is not limited to:
  • Nurturing the relationship with your Scholar
  • Show your support by attending and participating in LINK events and programs
  • Make a personal investment in the LINK mission

MENTOR EXPECTATIONS

LINK Mentors are mission aligned and committed to closing the opportunity gap by supporting Black scholars to, through, and beyond college. Through your mentorship, LINK Scholars will build their social equity, learn more about career pathways, and will understand the power of civic engagement and leadership. Mentors are expected to meet the following minimum requirements.

1. Commit to mentoring your scholar during their 4 years of high school*

2. Check-in with your scholar AT LEAST 2x/month

3. Meet face-to-face with your scholar AT LEAST 4x/year

4. Keep up to date with your scholar's progress in the LINK fellowship

5. Participate in LINK Mentor programming (workshops, service opportunities, networking events, etc.)

6. Support the LINK mission by making a financial gift every year

If an employer/sponsor is making a gift on your behalf and you also plan to make a personal contribution, please enter your personal donation amount above. Enter $0 if you are not able to make a personal gift and are not sure the amount your employer/sponsor will be contributing at this time.

Please check to see if your employer will match your gift or contribute based upon your volunteer time. If you have any questions about this, please contact us and we can help walk you through this process with your employer.

We cannot guarantee it but we give significant consideration to your preference

What was the impact of the relationship? Are you still in touch with your former mentee? Etc.

Mentors are required to participate in training/development each year.

MENTOR/SCHOLAR MATCHING INFORMATION

Tell us more about you! These answers will be shared with your future Mentee!

politics, science, history, etc.

What are you really good at?

What was unique about your childhood? How did you overcome challenges or push through discomfort?

As an organization that mentors young people, we must, above all, ensure their safety. To protect the scholars enrolled in the LINK program, all mentors must complete a background check. You will receive information directly from Sterling Volunteers within two weeks from application acceptance.

Say cheese! Your mentee will see your photo once you are matched! On occasion, your photo might be shared with the LINK Community. Let's see some personality! Feel free to upload your headshot, your favorite selfie or a picture with your pet!

This can be the same picture uploaded above if you are both in it!
