Jack Petchey Internship Programme

Thank you for your interest in applying for the 2025-26 Jack Petchey Internship Programme (IP7).  We recommend that you print off the guidance notes and refer to them whilst completing the application form.  The guidance notes also contain a full list of questions in the application form.

We see this programme as a partnership between Jack Petchey Foundation, the host organisation and the intern.  Please ensure you are comfortable with the conditions below before applying. 


You can save your progress and return to this form (see top of page).  Once you have completed and submitted the form, you will be a sent a PDF of your completed application for your records.


If successful, please confirm you understand that:

  1. it will be your organisation’s responsibility to conduct a fair and accessible recruitment process
  2. your organisation will award your chosen candidate a year-long, full-time contract from March 2025
  3. the recruitment, employment, supervision, pay and support of the intern will all be managed by your organisation
  4. the grant from the Jack Petchey Foundation will cover a proportion of the direct salary costs 
  5. your organisation will take responsibility for providing the balance of funding for this post plus the on costs (Employers’ National Insurance, compulsory pension payments, any additional benefits you give your employees, etc.)
  6. your organisation will pay the intern the Real Living Wage salary, as set annually by the Living Wage Foundation, for their year-long full-time contract, at the appropriate rate (London, or National if outside London) 
  7. your intern’s employment will commence by 17 March 2025.

Chief Executive/ Director’s commitment to Jack Petchey Internship Programme

  • The intern host organisation will employ the intern in a full-time position at the Real Living Wage rate (set by the Living Wage Foundation), and provide the balance of funding required for this post.
  • The line manager will deliver an induction programme for the intern and provide ongoing regular supervision.
  • Both the line manager and intern will join a ‘welcome’ videocall or meeting with Jack Petchey Foundation in March 2025.
  • Both the line manager and intern will attend the Launch Conference 2-3 April 2025.  This conference will take place in person in east London. There will be no costs for this conference aside from transport. 
  • The intern will be released from work to attend six professional development workshops coordinated throughout the year by Jack Petchey Foundation.
  • Line manager and intern will attend half-day review/progress meetings coordinated by Jack Petchey Foundation in September 2025.
  • Both line manager and intern will attend the end of internship celebration event in February 2026.
  • Both line manager and intern will complete a six-month monitoring/feedback form and an end of internship monitoring/feedback form.
