In some cases, state and local regulations may also require that you undergo a background check.

A large part of the work of PCFMA is about building relationships with the community members we serve. It is important to us that we create a warm and inclusive environment in our farmers' markets and any time we engage with those we serve. We hold ourselves to a high standard of professionalism and require all volunteers and interns that work with us to do the same. As you participate in the opportunities at PCFMA, we ask that you treat customers, farmers, community members, volunteers, interns, and staff in a professional, respectful and courteous manner.
PCFMA Volunteer Policies
  1. New volunteers must complete all appropriate sections of the Volunteer Application and Waiver and sign it prior to the first volunteer opportunity.
  2. Volunteers must contact the Volunteer Coordinator to register for a volunteer opportunity. Only those individuals who have signed up for an opportunity through the Volunteer Coordinator will be able to participate.
  3. If an individual is unable to make the day that they have signed up for, they should contact a Pacific Coast Farmers’ Market Association employee or the Volunteer Coordinator as soon as possible.
  4. Volunteers should dress appropriately for the task. Individuals volunteering at farmers’ markets should expect to be working outside in all weather conditions. Individuals volunteering at nutrition education and outreach programs should be dressed in a neat and presentable manner. To maintain compliance with our insurance policies, this includes proper footwear. Flip flops and other sandals are generally not appropriate during a volunteer activity.
  5. Weapons are not permitted at any volunteer sites while volunteering.
  6. Volunteers should arrive on time for their scheduled volunteer opportunity.
  7. Volunteers with any special needs should contact the Volunteer Coordinator.
  8. Volunteers should be respectful to all customers and be a good representative of Pacific Coast Farmers’ Market Association while on duty.
  9. Individuals must not be under the influence of alcohol or any illicit drugs while participating in volunteer opportunities.
  10. Individuals failing to follow these volunteer policies may be asked to no longer volunteer with Pacific Coast Farmers’ Market Association.

I understand that the Pacific Coast Farmers’ Market Association does not provide liability insurance or workers compensation insurance for me while I am participating as a volunteer. I acknowledge I have adequate medical and hospital insurance for any injuries that I may incur as a result of my participation as a volunteer.
