Coach Program: Supplementation, Non-Displacement, and Non-Duplication Guidelines

PLEASE NOTE: All current coach policies are subject to change from year to year and based on grant awards and funding. The information below is an example of a typical coach and host site experience. All requirements, payment information, and details are outlined in the host site MOU and coach contract.
Basic Details about Coaches:
Are AmeriCorps Service Members
Serve youth in urban areas of demonstrated need.
Provide at least 70% direct service to youth and perform other program-related responsibilities for the host site organization.
Enable organizations to increase their capacity to serve more kids and serve them better.
Coaches receive a living stipend paid bi-weekly by Up2Us Sports
Coaches receive an End of Service Term Award upon successfully completing their term of service. The award may or may not be regulated by the government (depending on the funding source of the coach). Up2Us Sports encourages all coaches to spend the completion stipend towards educational purposes.
Serve in one of four slot types over the course of 8-12 months:
Receive training in youth development and mentoring strategies focused on a trauma-sensitive approach to coaching.
As a subgrantee of Up2Us Sports, all sites must follow regulations around Supplementation, Non-Displacement, and Non-Duplication of employees.
Please read below carefully and certify you understand before continuing.
An employee may not be replaced, in whole or in part by an Up2Us Coach. An Up2Us Coach may not perform any services or activities that would otherwise be performed by an employee as part of an employee's assigned duties. Further, the services of an Up2Us Coach may not impact:
- the hiring of a worker, or
- the possible promotion of an employee.
Nor may Up2Us Coaches perform services or duties that have been performed or were assigned to any:
- presently employed worker;
- employee who recently resigned or was discharged;
- employee who Is subject to a reduction in force or who has recall rights pursuant to a collective bargaining agreement or applicable personnel procedures;
- employee who is on leave (terminal, temporary, vacation, emergency, or sick); or
- employee who is on strike or who Is being locked out. In addition, if services are being provided by regular volunteers, those volunteers cannot be replaced by Up2Us Coaches.
