Teen Dating Safety in the Digital Space
JULY 28, 12:00-1:00 p.m.
Unfortunately, the internet is a playground where bullying can occur 24/7 and where unsafe adults often lurk behind fake profiles. However, you don’t have to be a tech expert to keep your child safe. In this webinar, Adam Dodge, co-founder of
EndTAB (Ending Technology Enabled Abuse)
, will provide practical approaches that parents, youth-serving professionals, and adolescents can implement to help ensure young people are safer online.
DESCRIPTION: Digital dating exploded during the pandemic — and with it came new features, trends and apps. Not surprisingly, new and heightened risks materialized as well. However, minors and young adults are joining apps and dating on social media, often unaware of the risks or red flags of impersonation, recruiting, stalking, image-based abuse and more. This needs to change. When empowered with the right information, these risks can be mitigated or even completely prevented.
Learning Objectives: Attendees will be able to:
1) Identify 2 ways to prevent harassment on a dating app before joining.
2) Recognize 3 signs of grooming or catfishing.
3) Explain 2 approaches to verifying a profile.
4) Explain 3 fundamentals of safe sexting.
