Thank you for your interest in applying to Rise Up’s fourth cohort of the Youth Champions Initiative! 


The Youth Champions Initiative (YCI) is an exciting initiative that is advancing innovation and quality in the field of sexual and reproductive health and rights globally. Following a competitive selection process, Rise Up will select 22 visionary young people to participate an innovative virtual incubator-style training that integrates intensive capacity building, leadership development, advocacy, project funding, and technical support to enable the Youth Champions to launch creative new initiatives to improve SRHR in their countries.


Eligible candidates must meet the following selection criteria:

  1. Young persons between the ages of 18-29 
  2. Residents of: India, Pakistan, Ethiopia, Rwanda or Louisiana and Mississippi, USA 
  3. Personal dedication to improving sexual and reproductive health, rights and justice 
  4. Commitment to social change and experience in one or more of the following areas: youth development, education, sexual and reproductive health and rights, family planning, innovation and/or related fields 
  5. Ability to participate in an online virtual workshop meeting weekly for two hours between October and December 2021. Rise Up will cover all costs related to program participation, including materials and internet costs.   
  6. Proficient in oral and written English 
  7. Support of a registered civil society or non profit organization, network or group 
  8. To be eligible for a grant in association with this project, Rise Up requires organizations to be legally registered in country, be able to receive international funds, and in India to be registered under the Foreign Contribution Regulation Act (FCRA). Entities that are not registered can be sponsored by a legally registered entity.

Thank you for your interest in applying to be a Rise Up Leader in Nigeria!  

 

Rise Up empowers leaders to expand their impact by providing the training, funding, and resources they need to strengthen their organizations, lead change in their communities, and advance state, national and local-level impact by improving programs and funding for girls and women. Through a competitive selection process, Rise Up will select 20 leaders in Nigeria to participate in an intensive Advocacy and Leadership Accelerator, enabling them to achieve policy wins to improve girls’ access to education and educational opportunities and outcomes across Kaduna and Nasarawa States in Nigeria. 

 

Eligible candidates must meet the following selection criteria: 

  • Civil Society leaders between the ages of 18-60 years old
  • Currently working in  Kaduna or Nasarawa States, Nigeria 
  • Have personal interest and current commitment to promoting gender equity broadly in the three priority areas of health, education, and economic opportunity for girls and women
  • Represents or works closely with marginalized groups from socially or economically marginalized communities, women and girls with disabilities, ethnic and/or religious minorities and other historically disadvantaged populations
  • Ability to participate in online virtual sessions twice a week between February and April 2022 and a 2-3 day in person workshop in April. Rise Up will cover all costs related to program participation, including materials and internet costs. In the event of a 2-3 day in person workshop, Rise Up will also cover all costs related to transportation, lodging, and food.  
  • Currently work at a non-profit organization, civil society organization, media or government organization at a level of coordination or management and have some level of decision-making power that is based in Kaduna or Nasarawa States.  
  • Have the support of the leadership of your organization to participate in the Advocacy and Leadership Accelerator   
  • To be eligible for a grant, Rise Up requires organizations to be legally registered in country and  set up to receive international funds. Entities that are not registered can be sponsored by another financial entity or fiscal sponsor. Note: Government organizations are not eligible to receive grants through this program. 
  • Proficient in oral and written English

Through a competitive selection process, Rise Up will select 25 leaders in Delhi and NCR to participate in an intensive Leadership Accelerator, enabling them to lead transformative change in communities, and achieve policy wins to improve girls’ education, health, social justice, and economic opportunities 

 

Eligible candidates must meet the following selection criteria: 

·       Must have attained the age of 18 years 

·       Local resident of Delhi and NCR, India. 

·       Have personal interest and a commitment to promote gender equity, education, health, social justice and economic opportunities and advocate for improved national and local laws, programs, and funding for women, girls.

·      Have 3-5 years of demonstrated experience, or the equivalent, in at least one of the following thematic areas: Girls’ Education, Gender equity, Health, Economic Opportunity for women and Girls, Public policy, Social Justice, Community mobilization & development. 

·       Represents or works closely with marginalized groups from socially or economically marginalized communities, women and girls with disabilities, religious minorities and other disadvantaged populations. 

·       Ability to participate in online virtual sessions and dedicate 6 to 7 hours in a week between December 2022 and January 2023, as well as participate in the in-person trainings for 5 days during the given period Rise Up will cover all costs related to program participation, including materials and internet costs. 

·       Proficient in oral and written English and Hindi 

·       Be part of a civil society organization, network or community group that is based in the region. 

·       Have the support of the leadership of your organization, institution, or group to participate in the Leadership and Accelerator  

·       To be eligible for a grant in association with this project, Rise Up requires organizations to be legally registered in country and be legally compliant to FCRA to receive international funds. Entities that are not registered can be sponsored by a legally registered entity.

Rise Up is looking for activists, advocates and leaders that are working to advance gender equity and justice by improving education, health, and economic opportunity in California. Through the Leadership and Advocacy Accelerator training program, Rise Up strengthens leadership and advocacy strategies to improve the lives of women, girls, and gender-nonconforming people in their communities, counties, and the state of California. 

Leaders must meet the following criteria:
  1. Be leaders between the ages of 18 and 60 years old. Rise Up strongly encourages people of color, immigrants, LGBTQIA+ individuals, trans people, gender-nonconforming individuals and formerly incarcerated people to apply.
  2. Be a resident of California.
  3. Have a personal interest and commitment to advancing systemic change in government systems, programs, laws, and policies affecting economic and educational opportunities, human rights, immigrant rights, social justice and equity, health, and wellbeing of women, girls, and gender nonconforming people in California. 
  4. Work at a nonprofit organization, grassroots organization, media or government organization at a level of coordination or management and have some level of decision-making power. Participation requires the support of the organization leadership to participate in a training week from June 26-30, 2023.
  5. Have at least 5 years of experience in one or more of the following areas:
    • Education
    • Youth Development
    • Economic empowerment or poverty alleviation
    • Racial Justice
    • Gender
    • Human Rights
    • Immigrant Rights
    • Media
    • Community mobilization and community development
    • Sustainable development
    • Public policy or advocacy
    • Women's civic engagement and political participation
    • Environmental justice and climate change

  • Currently work at a non-profit organization, civil society organization, media or government organization at a level of coordination or management and have some level of decision-making power.
  • Have the support of the leadership of your organization to participate in the Advocacy and Leadership Accelerator.
