ProsperUs Trainer and Coach Application
ProsperUs Detroit supports entrepreneurs with opportunities and capital needed to build businesses, generational wealth, and vibrant neighborhoods.
We are seeking applications for trainers and coaches to deliver a variety of ProsperUs programming, including, entrepreneur training, subject-matter workshops, group technical assistance, and one-on-one coaching. Our team is able to meet the needs of entrepreneurs because of a dedicated team of trainers and coaches who are passionate about providing resources like access to education, expert support, and capital.
Training and Coaching Consultant Eligibility Requirements
ProsperUs will consider applications on a rolling basis with an emphasis on the following criteria:
- You have a meaningful background in entrepreneurship and proven expertise in small business development with an eagerness to support a variety of business types.
- You have an understanding of adult-learning techniques and experience implementing those techniques in the classroom and in one-on-one settings.
- You have a personal and professional commitment to intersectional equity, including the dismantling of racism and other forms of oppression that exist in the communities ProsperUs serves, specifically Black, Latinx, Arab, immigrant, and low- to moderate-income communities.
- You have knowledge, experience, and credibility within neighborhoods and communities like those that ProsperUs serves. You are familiar with community-based organizations (CBOs), community development financial institutions (CDFIs), and nonprofits the region.
- You are a resident and/or business owner in the community you want to train or coach (Detroit, Hamtramck, Highland Park, and Inkster).
Compensation for Trainers and Coaches
ProsperUs compensates training and coaching consultants for training sessions, one-on-one sessions, workshops, and other service delivery platforms. Compensation depends on the programs offered and the participants' utilization of services.
Roles and Responsibilities
ProsperUs training and coaching consultants support the organization and the entrepreneurs we serve in a variety of ways.
TrainerIf a consultant is selected to facilitate a training cohort, the trainer is expected to:
- Attend all interviews of applicants to assist ProsperUs and the Community Partner in selecting approximately eight to twelve entrepreneurs for each training cycle in a given neighborhood or community;
- Utilize the ProsperUs training curriculum that consists of:
- Twelve classroom sessions and lesson plans;
- Up to ten hours of one-on-one support to each entrepreneur;
- A graduation celebration;
- Prepare all necessary classroom and workshop materials;
- Schedule and conduct classes, workshops, and one-on-one sessions with entrepreneurs;
- Document attendance and progress for each participating entrepreneur;
- Facilitate a graduation celebration in collaboration with a Community Partner;
- Attend all training sessions, meetings, and convenings required by ProsperUs.
Coach
If a consultant is selected to provide coaching, the coach is expected to:
- Collaborate with ProsperUs on the selection of entrepreneurs ready for coaching;
- Utilize ProsperUs coaching tools that consist of:
- TA Assessment Tools
- TA Action Plan Tools
- Business Services Providers
- Business Services Projects
- Prepare all necessary meeting and project management materials;
- Schedule and conduct one-on-one sessions with entrepreneurs;
- Document attendance and progress for each participating entrepreneur;
- Attend all training sessions, meetings, and convenings required by ProsperUs.
