Education In Emergencies Global Teacher Prize Call Series

Teach For All’s Education in Emergencies Community is excited to announce that throughout 2023 we’ll be hosting quarterly conversations with some incredible ‘Global Teacher Prize’ educators! Each of these teachers has been globally recognized for how they support students impacted by crises – we can’t wait to learn from them! 

  • Call 1 - March 22 (9am ET): In conversation with Maggie MacDonnell (Global Teacher Prize Winner, 2017) and Dr Marie-Christine Ghanbari Jahromi (Global Teacher Prize Top 10 Finalist, 2017). Ana Gómez-Gallardo, Enseña por México's COO, will be moderating this call. How can teachers use play, movement and sports to foster empathy and self-esteem among refugee and immigrant students?
     
  • Call 2 - June 20 (10:00 am ET): In conversation with Leah Juelke (Global Teacher Prize Top 10 Finalist, 2020) and Jessica Lander (Global Teacher Prize Top 50 Finalist, 2021), to mark World Refugee Day. James Kassaga, Teach For Uganda's CEO and co-Founder, will be moderating this call. How can teachers leverage the power of storytelling to nurture a sense of belonging for refugee and immigrant students?

  • Call 3 - September 12 (9:00 am ET): In conversation with Hanan Al Hroub (Global Teacher Prize Winner, 2016) and Azizullah Royesh (Global Teacher Prize Top 10 Finalist, 2015), to mark the International Day to Protect Education from Attack. Rahmatullah Arman, Teach For Afghanistan's CEO and Founder, will be moderating this call. How can teachers create safe, healing learning spaces for children growing up among violence and conflict?

  • Call 4 - November 13 (9:00am GMT): In conversation with Ryan Homan (Global Teacher Prize Top 50 Finalist, 2018) and Dr Marie-Christine Ghanbari Jahromi (Global Teacher Prize Top 10 Finalist, 2017). How can teachers overcome learning loss for students living in disaster-prone or remote communities?
