Thank you for your interest in applying to Rise Up’s fourth cohort of the Youth Champions Initiative! 


The Youth Champions Initiative (YCI) is an exciting initiative that is advancing innovation and quality in the field of sexual and reproductive health and rights globally. Following a competitive selection process, Rise Up will select 22 visionary young people to participate an innovative virtual incubator-style training that integrates intensive capacity building, leadership development, advocacy, project funding, and technical support to enable the Youth Champions to launch creative new initiatives to improve SRHR in their countries.


Eligible candidates must meet the following selection criteria:

  1. Young persons between the ages of 18-29 
  2. Residents of: India, Pakistan, Ethiopia, Rwanda or Louisiana and Mississippi, USA 
  3. Personal dedication to improving sexual and reproductive health, rights and justice 
  4. Commitment to social change and experience in one or more of the following areas: youth development, education, sexual and reproductive health and rights, family planning, innovation and/or related fields 
  5. Ability to participate in an online virtual workshop meeting weekly for two hours between October and December 2021. Rise Up will cover all costs related to program participation, including materials and internet costs.   
  6. Proficient in oral and written English 
  7. Support of a registered civil society or non profit organization, network or group 
  8. To be eligible for a grant in association with this project, Rise Up requires organizations to be legally registered in country, be able to receive international funds, and in India to be registered under the Foreign Contribution Regulation Act (FCRA). Entities that are not registered can be sponsored by a legally registered entity.

Thank you for your interest in applying to be a Rise Up Leader in Nigeria!


Rise Up empowers leaders to expand their impact by providing the training, funding, and resources they

need to strengthen their organizations, lead change in their communities, and advance state, national and

local-level impact by improving programs and funding for girls and women. Through a competitive

selection process, Rise Up will select 25 civil society leaders in Nigeria to participate in an intensive

Advocacy and Leadership Accelerator, enabling them to achieve policy wins to improve women and girls’

access to education, health, and economic opportunities across Abuja FCT, Nasarawa, and Kaduna

States.


Eligible candidates must meet the following selection criteria:

  • Civil Society leaders between the ages of 18-60 years old.
  • Currently working in Abuja FCT, Nasarawa, or Kaduna States, Nigeria.
  • Have a personal interest and current commitment to promoting gender equity broadly in the three priority areas of health, education, and economic opportunity for girls and women. For this cohort, Rise Up has a particular interest in leaders focusing on economic opportunities such as advocating for financial inclusion for women and girls through access to credit, job training and leadership, land rights/ownership, inheritance rights, and more.
  • Represents or works closely with marginalized groups from socially or economically marginalized communities, women and girls with disabilities, ethnic and/or religious minorities and other historically disadvantaged populations.
  • Ability to participate in an in-person workshop from March 3-9, 2024 with some virtual sessions pre and post workshop. Rise Up will cover all costs related to program participation, including transportation, lodging, food, materials, and internet costs.
  • Currently work at a non-profit organization, civil society organization, media or government organization at a level of coordination or management and have some level of decision- making power.
  • Have the support of the leadership of your organization to participate in the Advocacy and Leadership Accelerator.
  • To be eligible for a grant, Rise Up requires organizations to be legally registered in country and set up to receive international funds. Entities that are not registered can be sponsored by another financial entity or fiscal sponsor. Note: Government organizations are not eligible to receive grants through this program.
  • Proficient in oral and written English.

Rise Up’s Gender Equity Initiative empowers leaders to expand their impact by providing the training, funding, and network they need to strengthen their organizations, create meaningful and lasting change in their communities, and advance local, state, and national level impact by improving programs, policies and laws for women and girls. Through a competitive selection process, Rise Up will recruit 25 leaders in Jharkhand to participate in intensive Leadership Accelerator program, enabling them to achieve policy wins to advance education, health and economic opportunities and contribute to the narrative change needed to support girls’ voice, agency, and leadership.

 

Eligible candidates must meet the following selection criteria:

Persons who have attained 18 years age Local resident of and/or currently working/volunteering in Jharkhand, India. Have personal interest and a commitment to advocate for advancing gender equity, education, health and economic opportunity for women and girls and stregethen girl leadership in Jharkhand. Have minimum 3-5 years of demonstrated experience, or the equivalent, in at least one of the following thematic areas: Gender Equity in Girls’ Education, Girl’s and Women’s Health, Safe migration, Economic opportunities for women and girls , Public policy or advocacy,  engaging men and boys for advancing gender equity, community mobilization & development.Represents or works closely with tribal groups, women and girls with disabilities, or any other disadvantaged population. Ability to participate in a hybrid model of workshop, which will be a combination of 6 to 8 virtual sessions and 6 days in-person residential workshop between March and May 2024. Rise Up will cover all costs related to program participation, including travel, accommodation, materials, and internet costs. Proficient in oral and written Hindi and working knowledge of English.  Be part of a civil society organization, institution or network that is based in the region. Have the support of the leadership of your organization, institution, or group to participate in the Leadership and Advocacy Accelerator and implement innovative advocacy project ideas. To be eligible for a grant in association with this project, Rise Up requires organizations to be legally registered in country, be legally compliant to FCRA to receive international funds. Entities that are not registered can be sponsored by a legally registered entity.
