INTRODUCTION

On behalf of our team at Builders Vision (BV), we invite you to participate in our annual Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) & impact survey. As we partner with you to build a more humane and healthier planet, we will send you this survey once per year to learn more about your company’s ESG practices and the impact of your product(s) or service(s) on people and planet so that we can best support, champion, and amplify your work. We realize that this request is one of many competing priorities as you build your business. However, we believe that a strong foundation for impact measurement and management will be a competitive advantage to your growth and look forward to learning with you along the way.

This survey is intended to capture data as of year-end 2023, and is divided into three parts:

A. Company-Specific Impact Metrics

B. Other ESG & Impact Information

C. BV’s Common ESG & Impact Metrics

Since there are no universally accepted standards for impact reporting at this time, we have designed the survey questions to align with best practices set forth by industry groups such as B Corp, Impact Management Platform (IMP), the Institutional Limited Partners Association (ILPA), and the Principles for Responsible Investment (PRI), among others. It is our hope that this helps to streamline your responses to reporting requests as much as possible.

Click here for a link to download a Word version of the survey for your reference to support your data gathering and coordination across your team.

Please note that there can only be one email login and password combination to ensure that data entry from multiple direct contributors/collaborators is saved in one version. If you are the first to access the survey, please click "Save my progress and resume later," create a login and password, and share that information with other collaborators. Those individuals can then access the survey link, click "Resume a previously saved form," and login using the shared credentials. In order to prevent version control issues, we recommend avoiding simultaneous data entry.

Since the survey does not automatically save your inputs, please use the "Save my progress and resume later" option, available at the top and bottom of each survey page, to ensure that you are saving and accessing the latest version of your survey. Each time you click "Save my progress and resume later," the platform will prompt you to re-enter your email login and password. The same combination should be used each time.

We plan to use survey data for a range of internal and external purposes, including:

Informing ongoing conversations with BV about how we can support your company’s growth, enhance your success in the market, and deepen your long-term social and environmental outcomes.

Reporting on company-level and portfolio-level impact to BV’s leadership team, investment teams, and other internal audiences.

Reporting on company-level and portfolio-level impact to external audiences.

All company-level responses will be treated confidentially and anonymized and/or aggregated for external reporting purposes. In some circumstances, following your submission, we may separately request your explicit permission to share data or stories with external audiences that identify your company by name. By responding to this survey, you consent for your data to be used in the way described above notwithstanding any provision to the contrary in any existing confidentiality agreement that BV may have entered into with your company.

For all public companies, by responding to this survey, you confirm that none of the information provided in the survey contains "material non-public confidential information" as defined by the US securities laws and regulations or infringes or violates any obligation of the company with respect to confidentiality or otherwise to any third party. You further confirm that BV may rely on the foregoing confirmations.

Please direct any questions related to this survey to impact@buildersvision.com and a member of our Impact Measurement and Management (IMM) team will respond as soon as possible. We also invite feedback and suggestions on how we might improve this process moving forward. Thank you for your participation and partnership!

We ask that you please submit this survey by end of day on Monday, October 28, 2024.

PART A: COMPANY-SPECIFIC IMPACT METRICS

At BV, we believe that impact measurement and management (IMM) create competitive advantages for your company in the marketplace. Among other things, you can use qualitative and quantitative impact to maximize the positive impact of your product(s) or service(s) on people and planet, differentiate your company from others, motivate staff, and attract new customers and investors.

Please use this section of the survey to identify up to 5 metrics that you are currently using, or plan to use, for measuring the impact of your company’s product(s) or service(s) on people and planet. For each metric, we've asked for annual year-end 2023 data and 2030 target data. Please note that even if you don’t have the year-end data or target information to report at this point, we still ask that you include impact metrics that you plan to use in the future to measure your impact objectives. An example is included below for your reference.

Use the 'add another response' button at the lower right-hand side of the response prompt to add more than one impact metric.

PART C: BV'S COMMON ESG & IMPACT METRICS

At BV, we track a small set of ESG & impact metrics across our portfolio to better understand key aspects of our companies’ growth trajectories, as well as how BV can best contribute to your company’s growth as a partner and value-add investor. These metrics include:

  1. Demographic profile of workforce and Board
  2. Additional workforce information
  3. Impact of BV’s value-add resources

Please use the sections 1-3 below to provide your company’s data on this common set of ESG & impact metrics.

1. DEMOGRAPHIC PROFILE OF WORKFORCE AND BOARD

BV is committed to better understanding the diversity of the organizations with which we partner. To that end, we would like to invite you to provide information about the identities of your full-time employees, senior leadership, and Board members. We recognize that these demographic categories may not be relevant to all geographies. Please feel free to make a note of any adjustments needed to accommodate for differences in section 2 below. Providing this information is entirely voluntary, and your participation will not be used to treat you in any adverse manner.

As a first step, we would like to know if the demographic information you provide to BV is collected directly from your employees, or if it is based on the assumptions of the survey respondent. Does your company collect the following data directly from full-time employees and Board? Please indicate if "yes" or "no" using the dropdowns below.

Note: “Full-time employees” is defined as full-time equivalent (FTE) employees and contractors who are in permanent or long-term roles, excluding temporary employment (fixed term, project based, task based, seasonal or casual) as of year-end 2023.
