If you are a young person (15-21) living in Redcar & Cleveland or the Borough of Scarborough and are struggling with your emotional resilience and wellbeing, we may be able to help you!

Turning Tides is a partnership of mission led organisations commissioned by Anglo American, working together to improve the lives of young people across Redcar & Cleveland and the Borough of Scarborough.

The programme is led by Sidewalk Youth Project in the Borough of Scarborough and in Redcar & Cleveland by The Junction Foundation and The Link Charitable Trust.

What Turning Tides  offers?

  1. A dedicated coach offering one-to-one personalised support, helping to improve your mental wellbeing.
  2. The chance to build your confidence and feel more connected, better able to affect positive change in your life and local community.
  3. An opportunity to be listened to and respected.  Be that in relation to your work, education, friends/family, or more broadly helping to understand areas better which matter and may be affecting you.

Am I eligible for Turning Tides?

  • You are 15-21 years of age and living within Redcar & Cleveland or Scarborough Borough
  • You sometimes struggle with your emotional resilience and wellbeing? (Maybe you feel a sense of disconnection, feelings of anxiety, low mood or confidence or a lack of excitement about the future?)
  • You feel like you would benefit from coaching support, developing a trusted relationship with someone able to listen and react to your concerns and aspirations?
  • You are happy to engage fully with the programme.
  • You are currently not receiving support from children’s or adult mental health services?

What happens after I fill out this form?

  1. If you meet the eligibility criteria, a coach will get in touch to arrange a time that works for you, to get to know you better and to jointly determine whether the programme feels right. If you don’t meet the criteria, we will still get back to you with other recommended support routes which may be more suitable.
  2. Once on Turning Tides your coach will work with you to understand your worries, hopes and ambitions, meeting with you at a frequency and location which works for you.
  3. There is no set length of time you will stay on the programme, this is managed and led by you in partnership with your coach.
