7th, 8th, & 9th Grade Transfer Application

The 49ers STEM Leadership Institute (SLI) is an exciting six-year program that builds STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) skills, leadership skills, and communication skills. College and career planning is also included in high school.

The program is offered at no cost and is located at Cabrillo Middle School (grades 7-8) and Santa Clara High School (grades 9-12)

All students who apply and are accepted will begin the program the following school year.

Who Qualifies?
  • Current 7th, 8th, & 9th graders who live within the geographic area of Santa Clara Unified School District (6th graders may apply in the autumn of the 6th grade year)
  • Students with a strong academic record (overall GPA of 3.0 or higher, strong math and science achievement in current classes. While not required, we highly recommend readiness for Geometry H in 8th grade, Algebra 2 H in 9th grade, & Trigonometry H in 10th grade)
  • Students willing and able to commit to the remainder of 6-year program through 12th grade.

2/14/25: Written Responses Due

3/26/24: Semi-finalists invited to interview 

4/7- 4/11: Semi-finalist interviews 

4/25/24: Accepted students notified 

5/1/24: Commitment Paperwork Due
