Elbow and Hip Dysplasia are genetic disorders that may affect the breeds used in our
program. Elbow and Hip Dysplasia can range from mild to severe. Treatment would
vary with each dog depending on the severity. Our veterinarian would be happy
to provide further information and advice if you are potentially adopting a dog
that has been career changed for either of these reasons.
*Hip Dysplasia is when the femur head (thigh bone) does not fit properly in the hip socket.
*Elbow Dysplasia in dogs involves an abnormal development of the elbow joint. There are three primary areas within the elbow joint that can be affected: the medial coronoid of the ulna, the medial humeral condyle, and the anconeal process.
