September Workshop Series:
Building Global Competency in the K-12 Classroom

Join Global Cities' educator workshop series this September! Prepare your students for success in a globalized world by making global competency part of what, why, and how they learn each day. In our workshops, you'll collaborate with educators from different cities to adapt Global Cities' tested approaches to building global competency for your own students.

Register to take the workshops as a 3-part series, or choose the ones that best match your goals. All workshops are 90-minutes and free of charge. Times listed are in Eastern Time; you can access a time-zone calculator here.

We look forward to seeing you this September!

Globalize Your Classroom WorkshopIn Globalize Your Classroom, you'll practice using the Codebook for Global Student Learning Outcomes to plan instruction that blends required content with global competency skills. We'll share a 3-step process for using the tool with time throughout the session to apply each step to your own content.

You'll leave with an objective, expectations for student learning, and a list of teaching ideas for a lesson or activity that advances both your required instructional content and a specific aspect of global competency.

Inclusive Problem Solving Title CardThe Tackling Global Issues Together workshop introduces a method for teaching inclusive problem-solving skills and attitudes in any course or program - the tested Community Survey activity from our Global Scholars program. You'll reflect on the value of this global engagement skill for your students' learning and how you can observe evidence of it in their work.

You'll leave with digital materials you can customize to adapt the Community Survey lesson for your students.

Meet Global Cities

Global Cities, Inc., a program of Bloomberg Philanthropies, has extensive experience using technology to forge connections among students and educators that promote global competency learning. Our signature program, Global Scholars, has connected more than 105,000 students ages 10-13 worldwide since 2013. We have also gathered empirical evidence that these connections develop the skills that students need to be successful in today's globalized world.
