Plug In America's PlugStar program is the leading training, certification and ongoing support program for electric vehicle (EV) retailers in the U.S. Since 2016, PlugStar has improved and refined the EV shopping experience for customers by training and updating EV dealers and other retailers on the most crucial aspects of EV driving, building knowledge for salespeople and improving the EV shopping experience for the customer.

The PlugStar training is designed to supplement factory training and covers crucial topics, including EV charging, vehicle range, total cost of ownership, maintenance requirements, government incentives, best sales practices, and more. Through the PlugStar program, EV salespeople and retailers have the most recent information to answer customers' most pressing EV questions, build salespeople's confidence and increase EV sales.

Dealers acknowledge the following program requirements:

For a retail location to be PlugStar certified, two sales staff must complete the PlugStar training and be designated as EV specialists to achieve the minimum Bronze certification (Certification Level Chart)
In order to maintain PlugStar certification status, at least two staff members must have taken the PlugStar training within the previous 12 months
Support local EV events with vehicles and staff as best able
Ensure a hassle-free buying process for EV shoppers and resolve customer issues in a timely manner
