Two years after the launch of the Acceleration Plan to Stop Obesity, 32 countries have signed up to scale up action and committed to establish policies and programmes that will curb and hopefully reverse the epidemic. As over a billion people are living with obesity and the rate of overweight and obesity has quadrupled among children and adolescents it is urgent that action becomes global and that all countries make the obesity epidemic response a priority.
This event will illustrate the achievements and the remaining challenges of frontrunner countries, show the l role of civil society have, portray new trends and innovation and finally determine the ask between now and 2030, including the inclusion of the response to obesity epidemic among the priorities for the NCD control agenda in 2025.
