Regional Holiday Program Scholarships

Any musician who is a primary or secondary school student and resides at least 200km from Sydney CBD is eligible to apply for regional scholarship support. Successful applicants will receive a full or partial waiver on their participation fee and/or a travel and accommodation bursary. The amount of this bursary is dependent on the circumstances of the applicant. 

Applications for the Regional Summer School Scholarship program close on Sunday November 17th, 2024. Applicants will be contacted with the result on Friday November 29th, 2024.

Applications for the Regional Winter School Scholarship program close on 
Sunday May 18th, 2025. Applicants will be contacted with the result on Friday May 30th, 2025.

If your participation in any holiday program is dependent on receiving a scholarship, you may apply for the scholarship only without enrolling. However this does not guarantee your place. For any questions regarding scholarship applications without enrolment please email Daniel Placido (daniel.placido@syo.com.au)

The HSC Preparatory programs are not eligible for scholarship support. SYO does not organise any accommodation for holiday programs. Participants are to book their own accommodation.

Health, Dietary, Support & Permissions


All information provided on the musician's behalf will be treated with the strictest confidentiality and is required to ensure we can provide the best care for our Holiday Program participants.

SYO employees or volunteers can supply paracetamol with parental permission. For all other conditions or ailments, such as allergies, hayfever, colds etc, participants must have and administer their own medication. SYO employees or volunteers may supervise participants in the administrating of medication, once parental permission is provided.

AMEB exams are not necessary to participate in SYO Holiday Programs.

Summer Symphony Orchestra Audition
For the first time in 2025, musicians will have the option to audition for the Summer Symphony Orchestra! 

Conducted by Leonard Weiss, Assistant Conductor of the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, the Summer Symphony Orchestra will meet for a week of intensive rehearsals, tutorials and workshops at Haymarket Creative, SYO's rehearsal venue in the heart of the city, culminating in a showcase concert at the Sydney Conservatorium. To apply for the Summer Symphony Orchestra, you must submit a short video audition of you performing a solo work of your choice. Auditions for Summer Symphony have closed, but limited positions are still available for certain instruments. Please express your interest below if you would like to submit a late video audition for this orchestra. Successful applicants will be notified by email. If you are not offered a place in the Summer Symphony Orchestra, you will be assigned to another Summer School ensemble.

We are unable to offer places to Saxophone, Euphonium, Guitar, Voice and Piano players.

If you are auditioning for SYO's weekly program in 2025, you will not be required to submit a second video audition for the Summer Symphony Orchestra. Late auditions for the 2025 weekly program are still open for some instruments - for more information, please contact info@syo.com.au
Winter Symphony Orchestra Audition
For the first time in 2025, musicians will have the option to audition for the Winter Symphony Orchestra! 

Spend a week of summer immersed in incredible music making in the heart of the Sydney CBD, culminating with a performance at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music. 
 
Alongside rehearsals, sectionals and tutorials, hear from some of Australia’s leading young musicians about their career trajectories to date in a series of workshops.

Applications for the Winter Symphony Orchestra will open in early 2025. Express your interest below to receive further information when audition applications open.

Sibling Discount

Each participant needs a separate registration for the Holiday Program. After your first registration is complete, you will be emailed a discount code to receive a $45 discount on any non-HSC Program Fees for any subsequent sibling registrations.

Codes may take up to two business days to be sent.

Sibling discounts are not valid for the HSC Preparatory Programs.
