Intro to Unity Game Design T/Th - John O'Connell HS

Meets: Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4:15-6:15 PM

Class information
This project-based class combines 3D art and technology to create your own unique games using the Unity platform. We’ll learn the Unity framework and develop a game that you and your friends can play by the end of the semester. Our goal is to empower students to become creators rather than just consumers. Beginners welcome!

You must be a student at John O'Connell High School in order to be eligible for this class and the stipend provided by SFUSD.
Intro to Web Design T/Th - Burton HS

Class details
Location: Burton High School
Meets: Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:45-5:45 PM
Dates: February 11 - May 9, 2025

What you'll learn
  • HTML and CSS: Build the content and structure of a website with HTML and add style and design to your website with CSS. 
  • UX and UI: Create an appealing and impactful design as well as a functional and accessible experience.
  • Prototyping: Use Figma to create a draft of your product and make improvements.
Projects you'll create
  • Spotify footer: Re-create the footer of the Spotify website, complete with links, the logo, columns, and all other appropriate design
  • Instagram profile: Re-create an Instagram profile, complete with a grid of pictures, links, and all other appropriate design
  • Capstone: Create your very own website! Use all the skills you’ve learned in the class to design something of your very own

Intro to Virtual Reality T/Th - Mission HS

  • Creating Immersive Environments: Delve into the art of world-building and scene design. Understand the principles of scale, proportion, and lighting to craft believable VR environments.
  • Introduction to C# Scripting: Explore some neat features with C# scripting in Unity. Try out custom interactions using the physics engine to add realism to your VR experiences!
  • Industry Insights: Stay up-to-date with the latest trends and technologies in the ever-evolving VR landscape!

Location: Galileo High School
Meets: Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4—6 PM
Dates: February 11 - May 9, 2025

Class information
Starting from the syntax of the language, we’ll go through and learn all of the basic concepts. While doing this, we will be working together on awesome activities you can add to your portfolio. After we cover the basics, we’ll dive into intermediate concepts like using libraries, building chatbots, and more. We’ll finish off by working in groups to create an awesome final project which will be presented at Demo Day at the end of the semester!

You must be a student at Galileo High School in order to be eligible for this class and the stipend provided by SFUSD.
