Creating and uploading your video

Welcome to our video application guidancePlease read these notes carefully as they are intended to help you get the best chance of being successful.

Your video should be no more than 8 minutes in lengthDon’t worry about creating the perfect shot – the important thing is that the sound is clear so we can hear what you are saying.  If you prefer not to be filmed, you can record an audio note instead.

You should plan the content of your video or audio carefully so you can be sure you cover all the areas we need and don’t run out of timeYou may find it helpful to write a script for yourself first or to make some notes of what you want to coverWe suggest you do a practice run before you make your film or audio.

Make sure you are recording your film or audio in a quiet place – avoid places with too much background noise like a café or outdoors. You don’t need any fancy equipment; you can just use your phone.

If you are recording anyone else, make sure you have their written permission first.

You should store your video or audio on a hosting site like Dropbox, Google Drive or YouTubeIf you are using YouTube, make sure your video cannot be seen publicly.

In your video, please tell us:

  • A bit about your organisation. What are your aims, who do you work with and what does it do?
  • How does the work you do relate to economic and racial injustice?
  • Why do you want to be part of Breaking the Cycle?
  • What do you hope to gain from the learning process?
  • What difference will your participation in Breaking the Cycle make to your organisation?
You will be prompted to insert the link to your video later in the form.  Please do not try to upload the video itself, just the link.
