Avodah develops lifelong social justice leaders whose work is informed by Jewish values and who inspire the Jewish community to work toward a more just and equitable world. Corps Members live and learn together in intentional, pluralistic communal homes in Chicago, New Orleans, New York, and Washington, DC. While they deepen their social justice framework through experiential programming and values-driven community building, Corps Members serve directly at local organizations tackling crucial social and economic justice issues affecting their cities.

Avodah is committed to building a service corps that inclusively represents the full diversity of the Jewish community. Sephardi Jews, Mizrahi Jews, Jews of Color, people of color, women, people with disabilities, immigrants, LGBT2QIA+ people, and people who come from poor or working class backgrounds are strongly encouraged to apply.

Please make sure to save your application often. When you save your application, you will receive an email with instructions on how to return to it. For essay questions, we suggest drafting them in an outside word processing program and then entering them here. We also recommend sending the reference form to your two recommenders as soon as you start the application.

If you have any questions throughout the application process, contact Emily Becker at ebecker@avodah.net, or check out our FAQ here.

The priority deadline for the Jewish Service Corps is January 22nd. We strongly encourage applying by this first deadline to have the best chance at an early acceptance, and to have the widest selection of placement organizations available.
