2025 Student Company Awards

Award Description
CIBC Student Company of the Year Award - $3,000
This award recognizes creativity and innovation, profitability and viability, and outstanding planning and operation of a Student Company. The awarded team will receive $3,000 and will be entered into the national JA Canada Company of the Year award. The National award winner will represent JA Canada at the international JA Americas Company of the Year competition.

Celebrate Entrepreneurship Provincial Award - $3,000
This award recognizes the JA Student Company that demonstrates the most innovation in their business. Some examples of innovation include: creating a new product, distributing your product or service in a completely new way, marketing your product using cutting edge tools and media, or using a business model rarely seen in today’s business world. The awarded team will receive $3,000.

Requirements:
These awards are open to all JA British Columbia student teams participating in the JA Company Program or JA Company Program for Indigenous Learners during the 2024-25 school year.

Applicants must submit the following: 
Deadline to apply: May 15, 2025
JA Student Companies can complete one application to apply for both awards.

Video Instructions
Each JA Student Company applying for the team awards must submit a video as part of their application. See links to previous videos on our JA Company Program page: jabc.ca/companyprogram

Video Requirements 

Videos must be no longer than two minutes. You must include the following elements in your video:
  • Description of product
  • Target market and need
  • Marketing and sales strategy
  • Financials
  • Challenge faced and solution
  • Charitable donation
  • Reflection/lesson learned
You should upload your video to YouTube or Google Drive and include the link in your application.

Judging Criteria:

Your video is worth 50% of your total score during the judging of the Student Company of the Year Award. The remaining 50% will be based on the following:
  • Innovation of product or service
  • Relevance of product or service
  • Profitability and return to shareholders
  • Demonstration of leadership skills or lessons
  • Charitable giving
  • Strategic marketing and sales strategy
  • Overcoming of business challenges without affecting the bottom line
  • Viability of business
This award will be evaluated on how innovative your product or service is as demonstrated in your video and online application.
