The Student Success Initiative Program (SSIP) supports students from the start of their higher education journey to graduation. Student Success Coaches guide individuals with high school or equivalency diplomas through the college, certificate, or trade program application processes, including documentation and financial aid navigation. By connecting students to the Institute and/or their campus support services and fostering a community culture for justice-impacted students in higher education, SSIP promotes strong retention and graduation outcomes.
The program's three core pillars—academic Counseling, Peer Mentoring, and Community Support—empower formerly incarcerated students to thrive as learners and leaders. Additionally, SSIP offers a non-credit College Exploration (CE) course. This structured 12-week virtual course provides foundational information to help students make informed decisions about college enrollment and plan their academic journey. For more information, please contact Jordan Guillen at joperry@jjay.cuny.edu and complete the expression of interest form below.
