Neighborhoood Shabbat-A-Palooza - February 21, 2025
Our inaugural Neighborhood Shabbat-A-Palooza is on FEBRUARY 21! Join Isaiah K12 families from around and beyond West LA for intimate Shabbat dinners and the blessings of community. Host a Shabbat dinner or participate as a guest – we will match you!
What is Neighborhood Shabbat-A-Palooza? Presented by “The Neighborhood,” Temple Isaiah’s social, spiritual, and educational programming initiative for K12 families, Shabbat-A-Palooza is an opportunity for families to open their homes and celebrate Shabbat together, to deepen relationships, and to create a stronger community for children and adults.
Who will be doing the matching, and how? We (the organizers) will be matching families together primarily by ages of kids, but also by common interest / neighborhood / any special requests or requirements.
What does it mean to host? You tell us how many individuals you can fit in your home + any special info (pets / food allergies / Kashrut / etc.). You decide the menu (do you want to cook? Make it a potluck? Order takeout?) and communicate with your guests. Each host family will receive a Shabbat box with the Shabbat essentials – grape juice, candles, copies of the blessings, etc. These boxes will be available for
PICK-UP ONLY on Tuesday, February 18th from 11am to 7pm and Thursday, February 20th from 9am to 5pm in the K12 Office with
Gabriela Bronstein.
What does it mean to be a participant? Each participant (aka not-host) family will be matched with a host family. We (organizers) will notify hosts & participants in advance of February 21. Hosts will then communicate how they would like to organize the meal and how participant families can contribute.
Sounds great! What’s next? Fill out the form! Please, only one form per family. If you have any questions, please reach out to Neighborhood Task Force Chair Beth Mohammed:
