This program is designed to introduce families to outdoors opportunities to connect with each each other and the community through outdoor activities. Most activities are designed for participants at a beginner level.
Supported Independent Campout Experience
For the final event, families will participate in a supported, independent, Overnight Campout Experience. Blue Star Families will provide attending families with specialized camping gear at no cost and in partnership with the National Park Service, host day programming and be on-site to co-facilitate activities and provide support through the evening. Families will then have the opportunity to camp independently alongside their cohort, putting into practice the skills and confidence they’ve gained throughout the program. The following morning, Blue Star Families will rejoin for a group breakfast and closing activities. This is a wonderful opportunity to enjoy a full independent camping experience while still having the camaraderie and encouragement of the group nearby.
