ABOUT WISE READERS TO LEADERS
Wise Readers to Leaders (WRTL) is a nonprofit organization that offers a free, six-week summer literacy and enrichment program for qualifying students who have completed Kindergarten through 8th grade. Our Summer Literacy program aims to remediate the academic losses experienced during the COVID-19 pandemic, while also preventing the "summer slide" or learning loss that many students from under-resourced communities experience each summer. The WRTL staff works to create a powerful, fun, and transformative summer for scholars by providing innovative and exciting literacy curriculum, engaging enrichment activities and experiential learning opportunities. Our curriculum emphasizes literacy skills, instilling a love of reading, self-confidence, and social-emotional learning. Summer staff are assisted by passionate and devoted high school volunteers, known as Junior Literacy Leaders, all of whom act as role models and mentors to our student scholars.
Applications are currently being accepted for our 2025 Summer Literacy Program.
