Program Overview

The FEʻE program is an intensive internship in organic vegetable farm management and food production. It is designed to accelerate participants’ capacity to lead organic fruit and vegetable operations through Climate-Smart Agriculture (C-SA), cultural revitalization, and community building.

Firmly rooted in the Hawaiian ʻōlelo noʻeau "Ma ka hana ka ʻike, ma ka ʻike ka mana" (knowledge is in doing and knowledge contains power), this immersive agricultural experience features 8 core areas of hand-on learning:

  1. Field Preparation and Planting
  2. Harvest
  3. Processing and Packaging
  4. Distribution and Customer Service
  5. Farmerʻs Market and CSA
  6. Equipment Use, Maintenance, and Repair
  7. Planning, Evaluation, and Financial Review
  8. Leadership and Mentorship of ʻŌpio (Youth)
Participants will be based at one of five partner farms, where they will be able to develop pilina (relationships) with ʻāina and community.
