The Andrew Thompson Award was established in 2002 by West Coast Environmental Law and the Thompson family as a legacy to Dr. Andrew Thompson, a ground-breaking BC environmental lawyer who was one of West Coast’s first directors. In celebration of West Coast’s 50th anniversary (2024-25), West Coast has honoured a number of individuals who have demonstrated an outstanding contribution to environmental protection and sustainability in British Columbia through the law with the Andrew Thompson Award.
Nominations are now open for the final stage of this process, which will focus on youth changemakers for environmental justice.
Do you know a young person between the ages of 16-35:
- who has made important contributions to environmental justice in BC?
- who has a vision for how strong Canadian and/or Indigenous laws could contribute to ecological and community resilience in BC over the next 50 years?
