About the POND Housing Program:

The one▪n▪ten Promise Of a New Day (POND) Housing Program provides housing solutions for LGBTQIA+ and allied youth, ages 18-24, who are experiencing homelessness; eligibility includes circumstances such as being literally homeless, functionally homeless, or fleeing a dangerous situation. The POND Housing Program is limited in the number of youth we are able to bring into the program. A limited number of new participants will be entered into the program during this application round, but all applicants will get a chance to meet with our Housing Navigation Specialist to receive housing navigation.

one▪n▪ten helps youth to drive their own housing solution, with our Housing team providing encouragement and support along the way. POND participants are supported in addressing challenges in a safe space, where growth, self-esteem, and strengths are celebrated and nurtured on the journey to maintaining permanent housing stability. The POND Housing Program is designed to assist participants with housing for up to 6-12 months. Participants do not need to have employment at the time of enrolling in the program; participants who are able to work are expected to obtain & maintain employment within 30 days of moving into their apartment. Participants will gain coaching and support from staff and the Workforce program.

About the selection process:

Due to limited capacity, those who apply before the application closes on Monday, August 3rd at 9:00AM, and meet the eligibility requirements for the POND Housing Program will be placed into a randomized application drawing that will take place on August 3rd. Those selected via the drawing, will be contacted via the phone number and/or email you provide on the application, and be expected to respond to the Housing Navigation Specialist within a 24-hour period to move onto the next step.

The participants selected in the drawing will be invited to a Virtual meeting, where participants will meet with the Housing team to learn about program guidelines & details, benefits of the program, and determine if POND is a good match for them. Participants who attend the virtual meeting will then be determine if they are eligible and if they will move forward to officially be admitted into the POND Program.

Ages 18-24 (if 24, must have at least 6 months until your 25th birthday).
Must commit to a 12-month lease in Maricopa County.
Participants must live alone and maintain stable employment throughout the program.
No registered sex offenders. Cannot be listed on the National Sex Offender Public Website.

All applicants should expect to hear back regarding the status of their application by Friday, August 7th. Information on additional community resources will be shared with all applicants. one▪n▪ten offers additional housing navigation services to help connect young adults ages 18-24 with programs such as workforce development, connection to education opportunities, referrals for resources and connection to other housing services and providers.

The application will close and reopen as spaces are available throughout the year, applications will not roll over into the next drawing, therefore applicants must reapply each time the housing application opens.

Only the individual signing this document may submit the application. While case managers, advocates, or other third parties may assist applicants with completing the application if needed, they may not submit an application on the applicant's behalf.

As part of our "light touch" approach, participants are expected to independently sign all required documents and attend scheduled appointments on time. This helps ensure participants are prepared to successfully engage in the program and work toward long-term housing stability.

Given the nature of our programming, one•n•ten is unable to house people who have been convicted of a sexual offense. Have you ever been convicted of a sexual offense?

The one▪n▪ten POND Housing Program is also a “light touch” program, meaning that our Housing Navigation Specialists are not case managers, and POND participants are expected to live independently (i.e. able to maintain employment, ability to get yourself to and from appointments and work, ability to grocery shop and obtain EBT, ability to maintain a clean apartment, etc.). POND participants get support to find a safe place to live in Maricopa county. Each participant signs their own lease, which is legally binding agreement, with the landlord/managing company of the property they move in to. If you are selected for the program, do you agree to have a lease in your name?

We use a flexible approach to support young people, with the goal of the participant taking over 100% of their rent and maintaining permanent housing within 6-12 months of being in the program. We apply the below calculation to determine the rental subsidy amount for each participant: If move-in occurs on the 10th day of the month or after, one n ten will pay the full prorated rent amount. one▪n▪ten will pay the full rent amount for the following month and then will align with the rent calculation schedule outlined below, with individualized exceptions:

1st month: one▪n▪ten pays up to 100% of move-in costs including first rent for youth moving into new units, including utility and security deposits. If required by landlord for move in, one▪n▪ten may also pay the last months rent upfront.

2nd month: Participant pays 30% of their net income (take home, after taxes). one▪n▪ten will pay for the remaining portion of rent and utilities.

3rd to 5th month: Participant pays at least 60% of the total utilities and rent during this timeframe. one▪n▪ten will pay for the remaining portion of rent and utilities.

6th month- 12 month: Participant pays 100% of the total utilities and rent beginning at some point during this timeframe. If necessary, one▪n▪ten may pay the portion of the rent the household is unable to cover, with set goals to increase income quickly.

Note: Participants of the onenten POND Program are given 30 days from orientation to find and secure an apartment through the help of the onenten POND Program and HOM Inc. Once housed, POND participants are then given another 30 days to find and secure employment if they have not done so already.
